Tiger vs Phil....no contest.
The record book speaks for itself: Tiger eats Phil, and the field, for lunch when he’s playing well. When Tiger isn’t playing well, someone else could win…not always, but sometimes, particularly is Tiger isn't in the field. And when Phil is playing well, he’s the next in line to maybe win when Tiger is not playing well...and Vijay is not playing well...and Goosen is off his game.... Get the pattern here?
I think a number of players got big heads when Tiger was down over the past year with his changing swing, marriage, and father’s death. Vijay, particularly, went crazy with confidence, but it all turned to vapor when Tiger roared back into form. Phil is no different. Sure, he’s an excellent player—when he’s playing well, which is streaky.
Even at his best, Phil is no Tiger. At the top of his form, Tiger eats the field for lunch and Phil gets leftovers. If Phil is also playing his best, Phil still gets the leftovers, which are bitter fare, for sure.
